Attain Optimal Well-Being at Zuma Wellness 4

Her desire to help people “live a healthier lifestyle and achieve optimal well-being so they can live their fullest and best life” motivated California native and Malibu resident Dr. Sarah Murphy to found Zuma Wellness, a naturopathic medicine clinic offering a wide range of all-natural services.

Whether looking to maintain and optimize health or address common issues, patients find the support, treatment and guidance they need at Zuma Wellness.

“We treat stress, fatigue, work burnout, insomnia, digestive problems, hormonal issues, autoimmunity, allergies and/or depression or anxiety or other neurological concerns that have not been relieved by conventional drug medications,” says Dr. Murphy, whose background in meditation, massage therapy and yoga preceded her interest in natural medicine.

“I started to study holistic medicine therapies and realized how direly our world needs this kind of medicine,” explains Dr. Murphy, who resolved to become a Naturopathic Doctor and Licensed Acupuncturist. Practicing in the Los Angeles area for 10 years—the past five in Malibu—she rebranded her practice last year from Dr. Sarah Murphy to Zuma Wellness.

Named Naturopathic Doctor of the Year 2017 by the CNDA (California Naturopathic Doctors Association) and voted Best Naturopath in the “Best of Malibu” 2017 Malibu Choice Awards, Dr. Murphy enjoys “connecting with people, hearing their stories and helping them wherever it is that they need support.”

Q. What have you learned about the business
of natural medicine?

A. I have to listen to and follow it. It has its own interesting evolution. It is a constant dialogue between what I know and do and what people are needing and what the world is calling for.

As an advocate for the growth of naturopathic medicine with the goal to help more people everywhere, Dr. Murphy is an active and passionate leader, currently developing a statewide health campaign called “Realize A Healthy California” as a CNDA board member and spearheading the creation of an annual naturopathic medicine music festival called “Celebrate Health” to raise awareness about natural medicine and the opportunity for better health.

“Life is meant to be lived…” says Dr. Murphy. “Don’t coast through it—make waves!”

When she’s not practicing medicine, Dr. Murphy loves dancing, traveling and exploring new cultures and ways of living/being.
