November 2017 Around Town

Inside the Palisades

“Living in the Palisades” is this year’s theme of the 32nd Holiday Home Tour and Boutique on Sunday, November 12. This special community event hosted by the Pacific Palisades Woman’s Club features three area homes beautifully decorated for the holidays, including the historic Villa Leon, aka the Castle by the Sea. Proceeds benefit the PPWC Community Grants program. Groups of five or more receive a discount. $55.

“Do Your Thing” Malibu

Aiming to raise awareness and educate California residents and small businesses about the simple actions they can take to conserve energy, the City of Malibu joined the “Do Your Thing Campaign.” The statewide campaign to educate all Californians about smarter energy use to make the state cleaner, healthier and more prosperous was created by the California Public Utilities Commission. Unplugging home electronics when turned off ($100 annual savings), upgrading to LED light bulbs ($70 annual savings) and using high-energy devices (dishwashers, air conditioners, washing machines) at low-cost times are just a few ways to save money and cut the user’s carbon footprint.

Malibu Arts Festival

Don’t miss the Malibu Arts Festival, hosted by the Malibu Chamber of Commerce, Nov. 17-19. Talk to artists and view fine art along Malibu Creek next to Malibu Village, peruse sculptures in the Malibu Country Mart and participate in crafts and live portraiture near Malibu Lumber Yard.

Lend a Hand

Some 500 volunteers are needed to help “Feed My Starving Children” at the Palisades Lutheran Church event, November 4 at Pali High School in Pacific Palisades. Join Palisades Lutheran, the administration and students of Pali High, Palisades Chamber of Commerce and the Palisades community at large to help eradicate hunger in the world one person at a time. Volunteers, financial support and prayers are all needed to make this event an overwhelming success. Call Pastor Davis for details at 310.459.2358.
