With BBQ in her DNA, it’s no wonder this Texas-turned-Malibu resident founded Farm & Flame, a local catering service and eclectic fusion menu food truck serving up some of the best healthy and delicious food around.
Perhaps one of the best-kept local secrets is Farm & Flame’s Taco Tuesday menu, featured from 4:30-8:30 p.m. at neighbor Five Threads Brewery in Westlake Village—try the cowboy tacos (brisket & pico), the pork belly banh mi tacos with pickled daikon & carrots, sweet chili crema & candied jalapeños, the smoked chicken tacos with jalapeño ranch and Texas toothpick and be sure not to miss the pulled pork quesadilla with pineapple mango salsa! We caught up with Executive Chef and Co-Owner Heather Worrell, who runs Farm & Flame with her sister Sunni and brother-in-law Daniel Duncan, to find out more about their family’s recipe for success.
Q. What sparked the idea for Farm & Flame?
A. My family had a BBQ place in Texas. When I moved to California, I couldn’t find good BBQ, so I had my dad build me a smoker and drive it out to me. I started cooking BBQ for my friends and then they started asking me to cater for them. It just took off from there!
Q. Where can people try Farm & Flame’s mouthwatering fare?
A. Farm & Flame offers Full Service Catering, two Food Trucks with an eclectic fusion menu using our Texas BBQ, and BBQ by the pound out of our kitchen in Westlake Village, located at 31133 Via Colinas #112, across from the Four Seasons Westlake.
We also have vegetarian and vegan options, including the sweet potato taco with tomatillo salsa, guacamole and pickled onion, the cauliflower al Pastor taco and the Portobello mushroom slider.
Q. What will customers love about your business?
A. We care deeply about the quality of ingredients we use. We have a farm-to-table approach to our food, which is all made from scratch, using locally-sourced fresh ingredients.
